Then ...

Born in Hollywood, Cary has been involved with music since the age of eight (even earlier if banging pots and pans counts as percussion). During his high school years, Cary was in marching band and choir. He was also participated in school theater by acting and doing technical work behind the scenes.

 

Cary was involved in various vocal and instrumental groups throughout college. He served as the assistant director of the Voices of Phoenix College and taught electronic music at the college level.

 

He also directed the men’s barbershop Scottsdale Copper Statesman chorus, the women’s Cactus Country barbershop chorus and was the assistant director for the Spirit of Phoenix Chorus, and internationally competitive men’s barbershop chorus.

He is currently a music judge in the music category for the internationally known Barbershop Harmony Society previously known as S.P.E.B.S.Q.A. and Harmony Inc., a women’s barbershop society where he judges music competitions and coaches’ vocal groups all over the United States and Canada. He has been the director of the Tempe Community Chorus (TCC) since August of 1998, where he formed the Mill Street Singers (MSS) and other Musical Group (OMG!).
